I am a passionate educator who led school transformation through Headship in the state secondary sector, by putting people first and simply doing the right things, because they were the right things to do.
I was also very fortunate to receive some great coaching, which led me to pursue my own coaching qualification in support of my own leadership development as a Headteacher.
Having struggled at school, I managed to graduate with a science degree and worked for 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry developing my leadership and management skills, before moving into education. I completed my PGCE at Oxford University when my children were at nursery, and loved everything about being in education from the outset.
During my 20 year+ career in education I have witnessed great leadership, and extremely poor leadership. I have learned from watching others - for good or for bad, from working with incredible colleagues, from my own mistakes, from coaching and CPD, through becoming DISC accredited, and from my own love of exploring "leadership", especially through reading.
On a visit to my last school, the then Secretary of State for Education described the school as “a turnaround school”, and much of this is down to my passion for developing people. Seeing teams empowered to be their best, always gave me joy as a Headteacher. But Headship has not been easy, and I had to find my way through many difficulties in my first Headship, in order to flourish and know myself in my second Headship.
I am now putting all of those experiences to good use with Coach-Evolution. I have delved deep into researching Middle Leadership, and combining this with my own experiences of school leadership, have developed the unique
"SHAPING CULTURE WITH CONFIDENCE", in support of enabling all middle leadership in schools to thrive.
At the same time I have developed significant experience with both coaching and DISC to support personal (1:1) and team development.
Additionally, sport, physical activity and well being are all important parts of my life, and whilst they all had very significant influences on my Headships in schools, they still all play a hugely important part in my life now.
Integrity
"Doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do" sits at the heart of my leadership principles.
Kindness
Treating people with kindness means that I aspire at all times to treat everyone with honesty and dignity, when times are easy and when times are hard.
Accountability
In working with you I will always hold myself accountable in doing my very best to bring value to our connection
